The 2.6.19.2 kernel tree has support for the ipw2100 wireless card chipset -- quite a nice change from the ieee, ipw2100fw, and ipw2100 driver compile and modprobe fun of the past.
However, after enabling this (compiling into the kernel) and rebooting successfully with the new kernel, I do not see any new interfaces (namely anything) listed in the result of iwconfig. I've still put the firmware into /lib/firmware/ however.
Has anyone had success getting this chipset to work with the above options enabled?

Much obliged!
You have to compile them as a module, not into the kernel itself. I learned that on my own............LOL
I download the correct firmware, but unfortunately rmmod ipw2200 nor rmmod ipw2100 do anything (they both claim the module isn't loaded). I am able to modprobe ipw2100 but still do not see any results other than lo and eth0 (neither with wireless extensions) in an iwconfig.
