iPod Touch on linux(I use opensuse Leap)

I have an iPod Touch 4th gen (iOS 6.1.6) @nd am trying to read/write my songs to it.
I really don’t to put in a VM with iTunes, nor windows with iTunes.
I have rhythmbox, and GTZpod, but so far neither recognize my iPod.

I tried following this write up trying to convert to opensuse where needed.
http://http://www.webupd8.org/2010/0...hone-with.html

Again, no recognization of my iPod Touch.

Just wondering if anyone has gotten iPod touch to work in Linux?

I do have a thread in the openSuSe forums. So this is essentially a ‘duplicate’ in LQ.

TIA
Bill_L
BTW, I can get my wife’s older iPod to work, one with the click wheel and the spinning’ disc storage.

I put in wine, then 32 and 64 bit versions of iTunes. Resulting in having to manually remove iTunes and hoping I got it all out.
No version of iTunes I installed added support for iPods, touch or otherwise. Just get a message telling me iPod support routines were not installed and to repair or reinstall iTunes. Well that didn’t help, so out they came.

So I guess I have to keep at least one machine with a load of Windows until I find something that works with my iPod Touch, or go out and spend money I can’t afford for a player that native Linux applications can recognize.

Side note; not being able to manage my iPod, and iPad and lack of Canon drivers for my Canon all in one printer are the only reasons I still need a Windows OS on a machine!

Thanks for the links. I have been through a couple of them, but you did give several I haven’t found yet.
It seems that every place that gives directions for iPods will only work up to certain Apple products, and unfortunately mine is 'not' one is those.
libgpod seems to be the thing that has not been updated yet to include later model iPods.

I will certainly dig deep into the arch Linux link and a couple other ones, if for no other reason than a lesson.

My OP didn’t mention that I am a *nix newbie again. Been over 22 years since HPUX, and SUSE 3.5, so I am in a learning mode again at 77.

Please let us know here if you'll be able to solve this issue. I'm really interested in knowing how one can bypass this restriction
