ipod mini detected but not mounted

I can only connect to the usb1 drives built into the board (when I connect to usb2 I get "waiting for device to settle" then disconnected). Dmesg output is

Quote:
usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3
usb 1-2: not running at top speed; connect to a high speed hub
usb 1-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
scsi5288 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
usb-storage: device found at 3
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
Vendor: Apple Model: iPod Rev: 1.62
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 00
usb-storage: device scan complete
If I get gtkpod problems later due to usb1 I'll treat that as a separate issue- for now, I can't see my ipod mounted anywhere, ie in /media or /mnt. cat /proc/partitions shows only my hd partitions.

How do I mount this device please?

If an icon for the iPod is added to the desktop, you can right-click on it and choose "Mount".

do you have ehci enabled in yoru kernel or as a module?i would assume debian has already done this although you might have to load it. modprobe ehci_hcd

I am grateful for your replies. I tried the ipod with a modern box, and it is mounted, and useable. I think the problems I had were specific to that hardware, and I suspect the power supply. The problem is now readonly, as described in:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...repair-644948/

I think that modprobe command will be useful anyway. Thank you
