Ipod drains instead of charging.

I recently started using my Ipod on Linux (and linux on my ipod =) and am surprised to find that when my ipod is plugged into my box, that it doesn't charge. In fact I suspect its draining the battery instead. I'm wondering if I set something up wrong or if my firewire card is screwed. I don't have any other firewire devices to test it with.

Recently I blew a power supply. It happend when I was plugging in a stereo plug. I was just kind of feeling around for the soundcard and I think I may have hit the firewire card, shorting the precious power it carries. My comp went down immediatly. However, (after buying a new power supply) I can mount my Ipod in disk mode fine, so I'm not sure I toasted the card at all.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys.

Try a new FW card (you could measure the voltage coming off of the card first if you like), you probably blew the +5 volt trace coming from the PS.

Thats what I figured. What I didn't think of, was simply to grab my multi-meter and check it out. At first it struck me as odd that the card could get data through just fine but not power, but in retrospect thats perfectly plausable.

Thanks

Yeah, I bought a cheapie CompUSA USB 2.0 card and it blew the trace out on the IRQ line (with the Windows driver no less). Can't use that slot for much these days...
