Iomega ZipCd650 Drivers for Ubuntu (N00B)

I'm a complete N00B at Linux in general. i was thinking it would be a more reliable os than my windows. I decided to try it out. I got the install cd and stuff. the live cd had no problem seeing my cdrom. I popped in the install cd and booted and got to the cdrom detection and i says it doesn't have the drivers for my cdrom.I don't know what to do. PLEASE HELP!

Zipcd info

The zipcd is an IDE CDRW 8x4x24. The iomega site no longer supports the device. i was wondering if anyone had any compatible drivers for ubuntu. i swapped out my sony CDRW for now but i want my burner back.

Iomega's website shows that linux is not supported for the drive. However, since the drive is an ATAPI device it should be compatable. A quick google produced results that others have gotten it to work with linux but nothing specific on Ubuntu.

If you reconnect the drive check to see of the OS is detecting the drive via the output of the console command dmesg.
