internet via satellite

I needed to know something about internet via satellite for i just met someone that would be interested in having broadband internet acess from his satellite dish . I don't really know how crazy this is , but a friend of mine said that it could be ok if had the right decoder and dish .

SYSTEM OVERVIEW:
Broadband satellite infrastructure provides standards compliant Internet
Protocol connectivity to meet the needs of private and public enterprise networks.Patented signal processing technology delivers the performance of terrestrial lines at high speed data rates (up to 2 Mbps) to deliver network access to locations and regions not reachable by traditional service providers.
The radio used to transmit and receive
data via satellite includes an upconverter
power amplifier, ortho-mode transducer,
low-noise block down-converter, and
transmit receive filter.
VPN ACCELERATOR SOLUTIONS
Tachyon's optional VPN Accelerator hardware enables industry-standard IPSec encryption protocols for companies needing the highest level of security. Use of IPSec simplifies integration with any location on the Internet. To ensure the fastest possible service, Tachyon's solution includes an accelerator that enables end-to-end encryption with the performance of terrestrial lines.

- #Variable data speed rates up to 2 Mbps customized to your application.
· #Ability to increase speeds instantaneously with no additional equipment costs or upgrades to existing equipment.
· #Fully operational in as little as 48 hours.
· #Plug & Play for data networking environments. Transparently integrates with existing IP networks supporting Microsoft, MacOS and Unix systems.
· #Flexibility to support multiple applications.
· #Full LAN support of hundred of corporate users at each location.

thanks for the tip nakkaya i'll look into it !

I have to check if the satellite that renders service to this region has some kind of protocol or services as in Europe (you're probably in very good position to get signal from all those European countries , if not you're own satellite. In my region there is only one satellite (services the Cannary Islands) and we are "hicthicking" on most known programs (i shouldn't be saying this but truth is everybody is doing it ).

Sorry about the brand name on the text i really tried to trow them away but i guess there was one missing . I thought i would explain better what i wanted.
