Internal USB multi card reader does not work (Suse 11)

I'm running Suse 11 ( i686) with KDE 3.5.

I have just installed an internal multicard reader and when I plug a USB stick into it, an automount window pops up. But when I use an sd card nothing happens. I have tested the card there is nothing wrong with it.

here's the readout from the lsusb
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 04b8:084a Seiko Epson Corp.
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 041e:4067 Creative Technology, Ltd
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0d8c:5000 C-Media Electronics, Inc. Mass Storage Controller
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
fstab reads the following
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs noauto 0 0
debugfs /sys/kernel/debug debugfs noauto 0 0
usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs auto 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
I'm still a Newbie and I have read so many how-tos which involve twiddling with the kernel, but surely there must be a simple way.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
