internal adsl card

hi i have had loads of hardware and network probles over the weekend and due to this the network is getting a compleat overhaul, what the network was originally set up as is all workstations where linux, my server is slackware 10 and my computer that actually connected to the internet was windows 2000 advanced server with ISA wever on it! however now i am putting the ADSL card in the slackware sever can any one tell me how it would be configured and does an internal DSL card cause the same problems as a win modem in linux?

thanks for any help

It depends on your type of card. I had an AVM Fritz!DSL card once as it came for free together with an ADSL contract, but the linux drivers for it really sucked. First they were done for one distribution only (SuSE) which I don't use, and they were extremely unstable. I finally made a deal with a windows user, he gave me his DSL LAN modem and I gave him the Fritz!DSL in exchange... DSL LAN modems work beautifully in linux (had it running after 30 seconds) and Fritz!DSL has really awesome windows drivers, so we both were happy. I suggest you get a LAN modem too if your internal card doesn't come with good drivers...

im not sure if its a lan but i think its a wan! but im having a bit of trouble getting it to work! we have it in a dedicated machine running clarck connect and it doesnt recognise it and i doent know how to install it. unless if any one can tell me how to install it in slackware

my card is a

Conexant ADSL AccessRunner PCI Arbitration Device
Conexant AccessRunner PCI ADSL Interface Device

well thats what it sais on the clark connect admin page!

if i cant get it to run under slackware can any one suggest a good distro for my gateway machine?

i will be very greatfull for any help

better DSL performance?

Will it be (even if it's slightly) better performance if you use an internal DSL card?

I have this cheap DLINK modem what you can just plug in and use in both linux and windows with pppoe.
Also the web admin panel, snmp is disabled by default. It doesn't even have an own IP so monitoring ATM parameters is not possible with them.

I could buy a DSL card but what's the best DSL adapter with linux in 2010?

I also had such D-link dsl internal modem, the model is dsl-100.
Are you able to use in linux? I only have the windows driver.

There are not much new model of DSL internal adapter, I also had some from 3com but that already many years ago.
