Hello im a recent mandrake user changing to red hat and I hated mandrake but at the moment cant say red hat is much better, My modem has a intel 536ep chipset in it and it hates me the install is cd, make clean, make 536, make install, but it does not want to work ive been useing well trying to use linux for about a mouth and wanted to get away from the eye candy windows xp and do some of the work myself coze when the pc does it its self it doesnt work 100% so i got mandrake as a start off its not very stable and hate all my modems ive tryed heap there all cheap ones , but red hats been alot better but still not good enough but i dont want to have to run back to xp its so tempin coze i have daul boot. It cost me about 2 USD(5 NZD to me) when i want to change my linux so, having read some reveiws post etc changin to slack whould not be a big money factor but all the useless linux disk lyin around whould. O.k. if someone can help if i had money i whould pay you but i dont so please help.
which driver did you download? it should be called intel536-4.68-rh9-up.tgz
This worked fine for me .
in the network config the modems device name is /dev/536 baud rate 57600 flow control software (XON/XOFF)
dont forget you have to reboot before trying it.
