Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Nope - just move your thread to General

I have an optical, 5 button Intellimouse (USB) and Mandy detcted and installed it easily. The side buttons don't work - but I don't like them so it's no loss.

Although I have never bothered with them, you can get the side buttons to work. Do a search for 5 button mouse in LQ - there's a program you need and you also need to edit your xf86config file.

I'm having a similar problem with my IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 (the version as pictured on http://www.materiel.net/details_B75-00065.html). It doesn't appear to even be working correctly at all - The mouse cursor jumps all over the place and sends button click events when I move the mouse, even when I don't click any buttons. I've searched for web sites that describe how to set up this mouse for xfree. The closest one I found was at http://dorward.me.uk/linux/mouse/ - however, even when I did as it said, my mouse still did the same thing. Any ideas?

btw I'm using Gentoo Linux and xfree 4.3.0.

Eric
