Intel536 modem on SuSE 10.1
I downloaded the compiled drivers from intel for SuSE 9.1 (latest version available). I'm using SuSE 10.1 but can't see that this should affect things much, other than a small bug in the Intel536_inst script described below. The script runs and does the following...
1) copies the hamregistry.bin file to /etc/hamregistry.bin
2) installs the 'intel536.ko' file in the /lib/modules/2.6.16..../kernel/drivers/char directory
At this point, the aforementioned bug was preventing version 10.1 from operating correctly as there was an if statement searching for '1*' which would work fine trapping all 1.* distributions, until version 10 was released!
3) installs the 'intel536_boot' file in the /etc/init.d directory and symlinks it to init'd/boot.d/S99_Intel536
calls 'Intel536_boot restart'
The 'Intel536_boot' then attempts to stop and start the Intel536 module. However it seems to have difficulty finding the module as I get the following error...
error loading Intel536
Obviously, the module has not been properly installed for some reason. lsmod confirms this as Intel536 is nowhere to be seen. Can anyone help?
