Intel Sound Card in Red Hat 0

My i810_Audio Model 82801DB AC'97 Audio Card does not work in Red Hat 9.
When I click on the Gnome ALSA Mixer; then file/properties the message is displayed:
Application: "gnome-alsamixer" (process 2047) has crashed due to a fatal error.
I have found the proper i810 file in the kernel. The Red Hat Hardware support data indicates that the Intel Card is suppoerted. Is there an easy fix? I am a true novice to Linux.

Thanks for the input. I must be doing something incorrectly:

[Crox@localhost Crox]$ sndconfig
bash: sndconfig: command not found
[Crox@localhost Crox]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost Crox]# sndconfig
bash: sndconfig: command not found
[root@localhost Crox]#

you probably need to install the package.

# /usr/sbin/redhat-config-packages

put the CDs in and then locate it. it will install any dependencies as well.

How is "Plug and Play" disabled in the bios?
On the Dell 2350, F2 is used to enter the bios. I used this feature to reset the boot order to install Linux as a dual boot. I have been unable to find "Plug andPlay". Sent E-Mail to Dell and received the following response in part:
I understand the issue correctly you want to disable
Plug and Play. This is not possible as you can only disable this
feature for certain components.
