Intel PRO/1000 PL NIC Driver
Dear All,

I am in urgent need of Intel Pro/1000 PL Network driver for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2.

I am using IBM ThinkPad (Lenovo) T60 notebook and on Vista it identify Intel Pro/1000 PL Network card installed on the machine. When I install RHEL 5.2 it didn't recognize any network card.

Please help.

Welcome to Linux Questions.

Try 'su' ... # 'modprobe e1000'
I haven't checked, see no reason why it
would not be in the kernel already.

i had the same problem in rtl gigabite card , but u can find the intel driver in intel site. just follow the below installation instruction

how to install instructions

1. copy the file in roothome directory

run following steps in command prompt

a) tar vxjf inteldriver.tar.bz2

b) cd inteldriver

c) make clean modules

d) make install

e) depmod -a

f) insmod ./src/intel.ko

g) lsmod |grep intel

h) ifconfig -a

close all windows and reboot the system

Things to do on Redhat EL 5.x, before anything else :

Please have a look into 'system-config-network' :
with these commands in the terminal : 1) su
2) system-config-network
... and set your eth0 active. Or eth1, if that is the
one connected.
