Well, I just finished building my first computer, and the motherboard has onboard Gigabit LAN. Windows XP picked this up fine and I have no problems with connecting to the internet there (I have Roadrunner Cable). When setting up Mandrake 9.1, however, the LAN is not detected. I have searched for an appropriate driver, but the only ones I have come across are not for my board (D875PBZ). Just wondering if anyone knows of any place that might have a driver for this, or would be willing to create one (I can hope).
I was reading the post fixed at the top about nuisances, and I was curious if anyone knows anything about the Unknown Device 1019 posted above, or if anyone know of any projects related to the more recent Intel Chipsets (D875PBZ).
Ok. I tried the modprobe thing, and I got an error. Unfortunately, I can't copy/paste this all yet, so I can't tell you exactly what was wrong. I went ahead and added the alias line into the modules.conf. Finegan, can you venture a guess as to what the problem is without the error message, or will you need it?
root@orwell:/home/fin# modprobe e1000
/lib/modules/2.4.20-xfs/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.o.gz: init_module: No such device
/lib/modules/2.4.20-xfs/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.o.gz: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.20-xfs/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.o.gz: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20-xfs/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.o.gz failed
/lib/modules/2.4.20-xfs/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.o.gz: insmod e1000 failed
?
Yeah... I guess its not actually an e1000 chip... crapola.
If that's the error, post back, I gotta poke around a bit more I guess.
Sadly, that is the error I was getting. I do appreciate all the help you're giving though, Finegan. Please let me know if I can provide you with any additional info to help you.
