Question Intel extreme graphics 2 going slow

I have an integrated intel extreme graphics 2 chip, 64Mb, and slackware 10.2 on my laptop. I don't know why, but on all the other distros I've tried, it goes fine, but all games that aren't tetris, or hexen II (in minimal graphics and resolution) go really slooow, and also whenever I want to watch a video or DVD, it also has a lot of skipped frames, and so I am forced to play tetris and watch DVDs on aaxine, whitch sucks... Also, SDL refuses to work. I think it must be that I have X badly configured, but I don't know what output(s) to post.

give me giudance, Gurus of Linux! thanks.

Get the driver from Intel. They also have a fairly comprehensive install sheet for Linux.

I've downloaded it and compiled it, but nothing changes. I think the same driver as before is in use. how do I use the driver?
