Intel DQ965GF MoBo - Front sound jacks not working
 
Good day to all,

I've got a machine with an Intel DQ965GF Motherboard with Fedora Core 6 installed on it.

I can't seem to make the front side sound jacks work, no matter what I try. The rear jacks work fine and the Audio Configuration identifies the Intel Corp 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller, which AFAIK is the correct one.

I'm quite a linux n00b, so I might just be missing something.

Any help will be appreciated.

First thing I'd check is the wiring for the front audio. I just built a system with a DP965LT, and the chasis I used is wired for Asus motherboards. Major headache when trying to connect it to the Intel board.

Another thing I'd check is the alsa version. The drivers I wrote for that board didn't make it into the kernel until alsa-1.0.12 final. I just checked the kernel source from FC6, and it is using 1.0.12rc1. Also, I verified that my driver patches for the Intel 965 series boards is NOT in there.
