Still black screen. If you have any other ideas I can try it, if not I could try DSL maybe?

...not just pieces of a log. See comment #11. Other lines could point to why those bits are missing. Even that might not be enough. Likely the journal for one boot, and/or dmesg, could help for spotting the why of it. Either of those two logs might be even more useful if you append drm.debug=0xe to your kernel command line in the Grub menu.

I can't imagine how "trying DSL" could help anything.

+1 on that, despite the fact that I'm usually against it. Yours seems to be one of those awkward cards that may need work.

The usual arrangement these days is /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/some_files.conf and xorg.conf if it exists only points to that. There's also default settings in /usr/share/X11 or /usr/lib/X11 which can be overwritten by /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/

I run startx, got black screen of nothing and copied /var/log/Xorg0.log via USB from tty2.

on tty7 there are grey vertical stripes ;/

Complete logs, when lengthy, such as Xorg.0.log, are best uploaded to any of the following (or equivalent) pastebin sites, where their relevance is typically only temporary so don't need to be part of a thread here on linuxquestions.org:not pasted here.

I've uploaded several things all together from my working i815/openSUSE Tumbleweed Dell PC
Code:
# inxi -GSMCxx
System:
  Host: gx150 Kernel: 5.4.14-2-default i686 bits: 32 compiler: gcc v: 9.2.1
Console: tty 3 dm: N/A Distro: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20200312
Machine:
Type: Desktop Mobo: Dell model: OptiPlex GX150 serial: N/A BIOS: Dell
  v: A11 date: 11/02/2004
CPU:
Single Core: Intel Pentium III type: MCP arch: P6 III Tualitin
  speed: 1130 MHz
Graphics:
Device-1: Intel 82815 Graphics vendor: Dell driver: N/A bus ID: 00:02.0
  chip ID: 8086:1132
Display: server: X.org 1.20.7 driver: intel
  unloaded: fbdev,modesetting,vesa tty: 80x25
Message: Advanced graphics data unavailable in console for root.
with nicely working Xorg to pastebin.com:
  • list of all loaded kernel modules
  • list of loaded kernel modules I believe applicable to video output
  • Xorg.0.log
  • kernel configuration

As one can see from my Xorg.0.log, missing /dev/fb0 and missing /dev/dri/card0 are apparently not critical errors with the i815 GPU. I'm guessing that next appropriate step should be a comparison of loaded modules between yours and mine. I'm currently of the opinion that your Xorg needs kernel-4.4.14-smp support that is not being provided. Please paste here the output (using code tags) of:
Code:
lsmod | grep i915

Code:
rm /etc/X11/*.conf
Not a good idea, you may have some files there which are needed. Did you at least look in there before running rm?
Where is this Xorg log everybody is asking for? All clues are in there.

This really should work with Xorg modesetting driver. However, since this box is so dated there is very little user feedback and testing and developers may not be aware if there is a problem. Furthermore, even if a bug is filed it may not get much attention, for same reason.

Edit: I wouldn't know what to do with such hardware if I had it, play DOS games perhaps. Could also serve as a home web and mail server. Too slow network for being a file server, could serve some media files though.

When I delete xorg.conf and run "startx" I have gray vertical stripes all over my screen. Assuming there is bug can I use some other alternatives to "intel" driver? If yes then how?

Why not look in /var/log/Xorg.0.log (or wherever systemd hides it) and read what the errors are in plain English? Mind you, you'd be better employed getting yourself a video card. You don't have to work with that thing. You don't have to spend hundreds either.

Ok, after removing xorg.conf startx gives me these logs, but I don't know what to look for. On tty7 there are gray vertical stripes.

I presume you have the log still. Try
Code:
grep EE /path/to/log
It can't find the video card, it seems. If you run
Code:
less /path/to/log
, hit / (for search and Enter the term EE, you should find where X is trying to identify the card. It's depressing reading.

If you have to use that card, I'd suggest installing a historical distro and keeping it totally off the internet. You would be wide open to any modern hack.

Code:
109.503] (EE) open /dev/dri/card0: No such file or directory
^^ This is the showstopper, kernel driver is not loaded and Xorg driver cannot load without it. You could look into dmesg to see why kernel driver does not load.

Check in BIOS for a video setting related to memory that has a choice between 1M and 8M. If the choice is there, it needs to be set to 8M.

I have been able to get Xorg to run successfully on
Code:
