The i3 should work fine with Linux, but if you want to use it for GPU computing with Blender you better get a Nvidia card for that.

It's an improvement on the hd4000 GPUs, but not up to Nvidia/ATI yet. The Intel stuff lacks the massive number of internal cores the others can manage. It does compensate to some extent in a smaller fab size which is significant.

The real problem is that the Cycles renderer (at least AFAIK) will not run on anything but Nvidia GPUs. AMD's OpenCL implementation can not compile the render-kernel and the Intel GPUs, as you pointed out, are simply not up to par with the other solutions (though I don't know if Intel's OpenCL implementation will compile the render-kernel).

Thanks for Your answer
, - but the problem with non-NVIDIA for blender I know already ,- I had to buy a NVIDIA grafics card already for my last computer.
I hope, I can use it again andf PCIe is still the same.
(once I wanted to use an AGP card for my next computer - and AGP had already changed from 5V to 3.3V )
Bye,
Siegfried

PCIe is still the same, any PCIe card will work in your new computer.
