intel 915


Got an external and onboard video card. Need help by forcin boot the one onboard. Somone could help me?

What cards? Have you just tried removing the external card? What distro? What are you trying to do?

dist: slack 10.2
mother: intel 915 GEV
cards: nvidia GeForce 6200 pcix

by default, when connet an external graphic card, the bios disables the onboard
one.
im trying to get both cards working and ignore the bios to get multiple desktops

I may be completely wrong, but offhand that strikes me as not being possible. Computers typically don't like to bother with more than 1 display adapter at a time. Usually its takes a unique software driver in order for the OS to attempt to use any additional graphics cards.


Admitedly I've never bothered with multiple desktops though.

In my experience, to have 2 monitors you would need a graphics card with either 2 video out ports or one with a "splitter".

Is there anything in your BIOS which will prevent the disabling of the card?
