Not sure if it's the place to ask about it but anyways maybe someone already had gone through the process and hopefully can share some experiences or give some advice
I need to set up a backup solution that would backup a few servers running only open source Linux (Gentoo/Debian). I'm thinking about using Amanda Network Backup and hardware Dell PowerVault NX3200 which can have 48TB raw storage capacity. This would give more than enough space for the backups.
I'd like to use Dell or HP because of their management interfaces (DRAC, iLO). From what I can see though Dell NX3200 NAS comes only with Windows Storage Server
. I'm not a Windows fan and would very much like to avoid integrating Windows if I could. Has anyone had any experience installing any flavour of Linux on NX3200?
I'd like to install Debian wheezy but really unsure whether this could actually work?
Another hardware I was thinking about is PowerEdge R720xd. It can have as much HDD capacity and as far as I can tell it would run Linux smoothly, but is potentially more expensive...
I'm trying to find the best backup solution really, so any hints about any other hardware or software would be really appreciated as well.
