Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Integrating Dell PowerVault NX3200 into Linux environment

Not sure if it's the place to ask about it but anyways maybe someone already had gone through the process and hopefully can share some experiences or give some advice
I need to set up a backup solution that would backup a few servers running only open source Linux (Gentoo/Debian). I'm thinking about using Amanda Network Backup and hardware Dell PowerVault NX3200 which can have 48TB raw storage capacity. This would give more than enough space for the backups.
I'd like to use Dell or HP because of their management interfaces (DRAC, iLO). From what I can see though Dell NX3200 NAS comes only with Windows Storage Server . I'm not a Windows fan and would very much like to avoid integrating Windows if I could. Has anyone had any experience installing any flavour of Linux on NX3200?
I'd like to install Debian wheezy but really unsure whether this could actually work?
Another hardware I was thinking about is PowerEdge R720xd. It can have as much HDD capacity and as far as I can tell it would run Linux smoothly, but is potentially more expensive...
I'm trying to find the best backup solution really, so any hints about any other hardware or software would be really appreciated as well.
Thanks.

I've loaded Linux (usually CentOS, personal preference) on a large number of Dell machines. I don't think the PowerVault would have problems. Dell prefers to load Windows because the majority of their users only (think they) understand Windows, and want it. See if they have a SKU for "no OS". Also, talk to their pre-sales support and ask the question. I've found them very helpful on phone calls.

Thanks for the hint.
Chatted to Dell about it. Sales advisor from Dell said that they sold those without OS, but then backed out of it saying that after consulting their technical team, NX3200 cannot actually be supplied without Windows Storage Server. I tried online chat on Dell's website as well. That person actually claimed that "The warranty will cover the original OS that you purchased along with the system, so in case you'd like to change it, it could work, but it would void the warranty."
Looks like I'm gonna have to go with the safer solution which is the R720xd .
