integrated memory controller
Hi,
Can anybody tell what is the function of crawl mode in an integrated memory controller? |
Hi,
Smells like homework to me! You did google, right? Try 'Intel memory controller' in google search engine'. You will find a link to a datasheet for the controller. Read and then asked about you don't understand. |
Thanks for the link.
Here is the piece of stuff I read, the specification does mention that there is a crawl mode but whats the purpose is not mentioned. "The fully programmable DDR SDRAM controller, integrated in the PowerQUICC III™ processor, supports most first-generation JEDEC standard ×8 or ×16 DDR memories available (No direct support for x4 DDR memories), including buffered and unbuffered DIMMs. The Clock frequency is up to 166MHz. Built-in error checking and correction (ECC) ensures very low bit-error rates for reliable high-frequency operation. The integrated memory controller supports dynamic power management and auto-precharge modes. A large set of special features, including DLL software override, crawl mode, and ECC error injection support rapid system debug". |
