Integrated Audio and Audiotrak

I have an ASUS K8V-X motherboard with integrated audio. Might linux have a problem installing drivers for this? I checked out Alsa's website and could not find anything that might work. I also checked out the manufacturer of the chipset which is VIA Technologies and they have linux drivers, but not for Xandros. I downloaded the file anyway and found that I only downloaded a version of realplayer audio alternative. All pretty confusing since I was expecting driver type files. I have another separate sound card by Audiotrak (Maya 5.1- pci.). Can't find anything for that either. Does anyone have any good news for me? Something like, I will have no trouble installing the sound card?

Sorry, Maya 5.1 is not supported in Linux, but I added a feature request. For your on-board sound, just use snd-via82xx. Just download the ALSA software and compile it. It should just work.

That file I was talking about that I downloaded (viaudiocombo-2.3-1.tar.gz) has another file embedded into it which has an extension .rpm. From what I understand, the file is for VIA South Bridge chips VT8231, VT8233, VT8233A, VT8235 and VT8237. The latter, VT8237, is what I have. I guess its a matter of clicking on the file and taking it from there?

This driver is for Mandrakelinux. if its for this particular disro, will it work? If not then what?

Go to ALSA site and download the software. Next decompress the packages and compile it.

Sheesh! did I say that in my previous post.
