Installing Video card (ATI radeon 9200)
Hello,
i'm quite new on Linux, and I am trying to install my video card's drivers for debian (woody).
So, i have downloaded the drivers for my radeon on ATI web page, and installed them (by converting them with alien from rpm to deb) on my computer.
Now, I used ATI config tool to install the card, and in the XF86Config-4 file, it is written : "driver:fglrx"
The problem is that:
1. When I run xf86cfg, and look to the drivers available for video card, i have no trace of fglrx
2. When i logout, i come back to console mode (instead of gnome) and it says that it cannot load X server.
If I change the driver to vesa, it can load back.
So, two questions:
.Is it possible to raise refresh rate of screen with vesa driver
.Do i need to compile or do something with my kernel in order for it to load the fglrx ati driver?
Thanks for help
John
