Installing to IDE3, IDE5
I have an ABIT IS7-E with the ICH5 controller. I can install Red Hat 9.0 without difficulty if I configure the BIOS to put the SATA controllers as IDE1 or IDE2 (BIOS numbering not Linux). If I configure the BIOS to use the standard IDE controllers for IDE1 and IDE2 and the SATA controllers as IDE3 and IDE4, the installer
can't see the hard drives. Since I need the standard IDE controllers for other things I'm in a bit of a fix. Does anyone have a solution for this? Thanks in advance - gjh |
Hi,
I think this thread relates to your problem: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...=sata+and+ICH5 You might read Finegan's reply. Not having this hardware myself, I know nothing about it. At least, we will bump it back up. |
