Installing Nvidia driver Arch

I'm a long term Manjaro user but new to Arch. Whats interesting but perhaps not surprising, is I'm having the same intermittent issue with a black background on log in. My suspicion is its graphics driver related.

So to my question. What kind of success or failure have users had with Nvidia drivers vs nouveau? Noveau is currently running (I've posted some feedback below). I found this blog on installing Nvidia drivers (https://howto.lintel.in/install-nvidia-arch-linux/) but want to make sure this is the best approach. Often these kinds of resources as everyone can appreciate, become outdated, etc.

Any insights appreciated.

Nvidia drivers vs nouveau
The nvidia modules will outperform nouveau.

If you are going to use arch, then follow the wiki.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Nouveau
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xinit
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Bumblebee

Start with:
Code:
lspci -k
To see what you have, then read the wiki for what you need.

Thanks I have installed NVIDIA drivers but sadly the problem I had hoped they would solve remains.I'll post in Arch forum here in hopes someone else has experienced it.

You have both installed. Do you have one blacklisted? If not then get rid of one.

Appreciate the advice. I was not sure if I still needed to black list the nouveau driver given its been superseded by the installed NVIDIA replacement. If its still worth doing I'll black list it.

Oh and for anyone having problems with a black background after loading into Arch or a derivative OS it could be a timing issue with your GPU driver. This video is really helpful:
