Installing Network Card Driver

I purchased a D-Link DWA-525 desktop PCI adapter and installed it in one of desktops. It works fine with Windoes XP however not with Linux Mint 9 which I also just recently installed to test drive. I located information for installing the driver for this device however I must admit my ignorance with commands in the Linux environment. This is the site I found to help me with my problem: http://steveswinsburg.wordpress.com/...-a-d-link-dwa- Since my machine is not connected to the Internet by wire I used my other desktop that also runs Ubuntu to download the drivers as instructed and saved to a USB drive which I then installed on the desk top with the wireless card. I loaded what was on the USB to My Documents and extracted the file which it did to the My Documents folder. I now can see all the sub folders. Here is where I am going off the rails. The instructions say to extract the package and cd to the directory. I have a feeling the extraction should be to a different directory than My Documents. If I can get this part sorted out I should be able to follow through with the rest of the instructions. I think perhaps because I installed the file from a USB is the issue. Thanks for your assistance.

Hi,

Let's say your download is to user's home directory '~/Desktop/downloads/testing';
Code:
From terminal command line(cli);

~$cd ~/Desktop/downloads/testing
~/Desktop/downloads/testing$tar -xvf tar -xvf DPO_RT3562_3592_3062_LinuxSTA_V2.4.1.1_20101217.tgz
~/Desktop/downloads/testing$ cd DPO_RT3562_3592_3062_LinuxSTA_V2.4.1.1_20101217

~/Desktop/downloads/testing/DPO_RT3562_3592_3062_LinuxSTA_V2.4.1.1_20101217$ pwd
/home/tom/Desktop/downloads/testing/DPO_RT3562_3592_3062_LinuxSTA_V2.4.1.1_20101217
Notice the last command ' pwd (print name of current/working directory)'. You are now in the directory to continue the instruction(s) an use 'nano' on the configuration(s) files and then perform the make(s).

HTH!

It took me while to figure out what I was to do with the directions you provided however with a little determination I was able to get where I neede to be. After doing all of that I have an error so I am going to go back and re-do to see if I missed something. I after I do the following: modprobe rt3562sta I received a list of errors so I didn't think that was correct. I like to know how things are done and not just ask and follow instructions in order to get something to work. I have the book "A Practical Guide to Ubuntu Linux" by Mark G. Sobell which I use often as well. Thanks for your guidance.

I tried to reinstall the drivers and everything seemed ok except after running make && make install the following error is displayed, I have placed an = at the start of each line:
= make -C tools
= make[1]: Entering directory '/home/tom/Documents/DPO_RT3562_3592_3062_LinuxSTA_V2.4.1.1_20101217/tools'
= gcc -g bin2h.c -o bin2h
= make[1]: gcc: Command not found
= make[1]: *** [all] Error 127
= make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/tom/Documents/ DPO...../tools'
= make: *** [build_tools] Error 2

When I run modprobe rt3562sta the following is displayed:

WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper, it will ignored i
