I guess I don’t have the kernel files installed, do I only need to search in the 3 cds with files named kernel ? or anything else ?
I did that and didn’t find any file

I finally found this file in the 3rd cd “kernel-source-2.4.19-16mdk.i586.rpm”
When I installed it I got the following error

<nt/win_c/k/kernel-source-2.4.19-16mdk.i586.rpm;echo RESULT=$?
error: failed dependencies:
glibc-devel is needed by kernel-source-2.4.19-16mdk
ncurses-devel is needed by kernel-source-2.4.19-16mdk
gcc is needed by kernel-source-2.4.19-16mdk
RESULT=1

How can I remove this error

I was able to cleanly install this file kernel-2.4.19.16mdk-1-1mdk.i586.rpm
but running make install is still giving the same error

So, aer you running that as root.
Check if the directory /usr/src/linux exists and points to the real thing.
I got this error once when the source wasn't installed properly, try reinstalling it.
Um, lets see, also check if the source is the same version as the kernel you're running, that is if there were more than one source packages. uname -r will tell you which kernel you're running.
Oh yeah, maybe we can discuss this over IM. I can borrow my sister's ID.Her address is laurazangel@hotmail.com, her nickname is laura.
