Question Installing linux to and USB external Harddrive???


i got a 160 gig external USB hard drive and trying to put linux on it, i already portion my hard drive and everything is ready to install, but it only shows my primary labtop hard drive, none of my hard drive portionings shows up, what do i need to do???? PLEASE help me, Thanks

You can try putting root=/dev/sdx as an option when starting to install. I'm guessing. If your computer doesn't have bios support for usb or CF booting, then those devices aren't seen until initialized by operating system. My laptop has boot to USB/CF as option in bios.
