Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Question Installing Linux on 2nd HDD (IDE) when WinXP installed on SATA RAID0

I have WinXP installed on a SATA RAID0 setup (SIS 180 RAID controller on an ECS755-A2 motherboard).

I have installed a further HDD on IDE bus, which i intended to use for Linux, with a partition assigned also to Windows.

I tried to install Fedora Core 2, booting from CDROM, but anaconda only sees the IDE drive. I can use Disk Druid to create partitions etc on the IDE drive, but i want to be able to dual boot into linux/winXP. I would really prefer not to have to install the IDE drive as my winXP boot drive if i can help it...

Anybody give me some advice please? (i'm pretty much a newbie so simple words would be nice).

many thanks in anticipation.

Steve.

from what ive seen on these forums, linux doesnt have great RAID support, so the easiest way would be to convert the windows install into non-raid.
