Installing HP C7280 All in One

I am in need of assitance installing my "HP C7280 All in One Printer" on my Ubuntu 12.04. I got the HP because it is suppose to be compatible with Linux? I can not go and find another one, so I am hoping this will work. I have the installation disc but it has nothing on it in reference to Linux, let alone Ubuntu.
I would appreciate any help here.

You do not need an installation disc tp install HP drivers on Linux, you will need to install CUPS.

CUPS

Hey,

I went to the CUPS link you provided but am confused how to proceed. After the first two commnands I am scratching my head going Huh!

Thanks for the help, maybe if I bang my had against the wall long enough I'll figure it out?

cups should be already installed and running. Here is a howto:

If the printer driver is not included you can add it easily via.

The link above did not work for me. Is you printer recognized at all? If it is, go went into Administration/Printers/click on the printer icon. In the Printer Properties box selected "change" for make and model. This prompted a search for the correct driver. Once it was installed, now my printer works! Maybe this will help you, too. If your printer is not recognized at all, try connecting it and turning it on, then reboot your system. It should recognize it as new hardware.

waltzcar; I am having major problemns with my Printer. First off it says the ink setting is wrong, even after i got a comokletely new ink pods (whatever their called) and installed them. It asks to turn the printer off then on again. Good in theory but my printer will not turn off. It keeps saying it is shutting down but after ten fifteen twenty minutes and it still says it is shutting down.
It is in realm of possibility that in some way I do not have it properly connected. I thought I did bujt now I am not so sure. I am going to try and find the installation brochure and see what i did wrong or if I did something wrong?
I have the installation disc but it si set for either a Windows or a Mac, so I do not know if installing it (the Printer) using ther disc will help?
i do appreciate the help you have tried to give me.

Did some further investigating and discovered this through the link that 'michaelk' gave me:

"Installation Wizard
You have selected Ubuntu 12.04 using the HP Photosmart c7280 All-in-one Printer.

Ubuntu 12.04 supplies HPLIP 3.12.2 and it does support your printer.

As the version of HPLIP supplied with your operating system supports your printer, you may continue to use that version of HPLIP.

You may now optionally download the latest version of HPLIP to get access to new features and bug fixes."

Now if I could only get the other problem resolved?

@ herakles_14, I'm unsure which "other problem" needs resolution.
