Question Installing a new video card

I was using a new ATI Radeon 9250 which saw fit to give me fits with drivers in Windows, and did not appear to have 3d support for Linux either. So I exchanged the video card for an nVidia GeForce FX 5200.

When I load Linux SuSE 10.1, it drops to a command line.

I'm new to linux totally and don't know what to do. Telling me to configure X doesn't help because I don't know how to do that. I am quite familiar, intimately with Windows, but not with Linux or any Unix other 'nix based os.

I had just installed Linux when I got the ATI card and had the same problem. Not knowing what to do, I just reinstalled Linux, but I can't do that every time I get new hardware on this machine.

Can anyone walk me through the steps on what to do?
