installed pcmcia driver and orinoco gold card kernel panics
I have installed pcmcia package and orinoco drivers against current kernel
im running a 900z laptop which i hear is one of the most linux unfriendly laptops one could buy, and i can not take it back

well upon installing pcmcia driver and orinoco gold cards and then rebooting my kernel panics when trying to load the pcmcia drivers for my kernel

i can boot via failsafe though and still arrive into X with full functionality with exception of orinoco card

i run a cardctl status as root and get this output while in failsafe mode

Socket 0:
5V 16-bit PC Card
function 0: [ready]

dont know where to go frorm here i dont exactly want to stay in failsafe either my main goal is to get the dang card working right though

thanks to all who reply

oh running linux mandrake 9.1 by the way : )

It looks as if the drivers/modules are working properly, what the hell is an orinco a network card?

try having wireless set to on on your router and ping a site like,

if you can do all that it is working fine.
