I posted a question the other day about my installation having problems wiht red hat 9, in that i could not find a driver suitable for my DVD rom.

someone suggested i use Centos. I went to their website and downloaded it and it also seems to be hanging up at the same place.

I have tried it now twice, once with my DVD rom and once with an older CD/DVD Rom device.

It runs fine until it hits this line and then it just appears to stay there:

hdk: GCR-8523B, ATAPI CD/DVD-Rom drive

it chances depending on my device, but basically it says it can't find any device that i connect to my server.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this. I'm very new to linux and have been having lot's of trouble even getting this installation going.

Try using sled10, they have a free download for 60 days trial. I used to have suse 10.0 and I like sled10 better.
