Question Installation of the controller AHA 29320 SLES 9.

I would first like to thank everyone who contributes in some way with this forum.
And again I am here to ask help the you, members of this forum.
I am having problems with the instação of the a controller AHA 29320 in the SLES 9.

I already tried to use the driver available on the Adaptec Web site for suse, but don't work. Always get that there is no HD installed.

I am intending to do Raid 1 with the controller, using two HDs of 37GB to system and two HD of 300GB to data.

Se alguém sabe como resolver este problema, por favor, me ajude ...

Thanks.

That is a FakeRAID Controller (Adaptec HOSTRAID) I think you need to look into dmraid to configure it now.
(aic79xx and a320 drivers)

Ubuntu has the most extensive installation docs for dmraid that I have seen so far.. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FakeRaidHowto

another option would be to purchase a true hardware RAID controller.. or just use software RAID.

3Ware - SATA (Serial ATA) and SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) Hardware RAID controllers

LSI - SATA, SAS, SCSI RAID controllers

HP SmartArray - SATA, SAS, SCSI RAID Controllers

Dell Hardware Based RAID controllers for their servers..

All of the above companies manufacture Hardware based RAID controllers with good Linux Support.

Adaptec still has hardware based RAID controllers as well, but their productline is mixed between hardware based and FakeRAID, making it difficult to find what you are looking for.

You can get your current card to work using dmraid, or just using Linux software RAID.

Hardware based RAID controllers are NOT inexpensive but imho can have some definite benefits in the enterprise.
