Arrow Install probelms with sata_via module

First off let me disclaim that I am a recent convert from windows, from where I was a moderate "power-user." But as far as linux goes, I'm a definate newbie with entry-level experience. Here's my problem:

I'm trying to install Mandrake Linux 10.1 Community on my WD SATA hard drive, using the vt8237 SATA controller on my mobo. It appears it's recognizing the driver, but not the drive. Here's what happened when I booted from the CD.

First, the GUI loads and after i set up the keyboard layout and agree to the liscense, it gives me this message:

Installing driver for disk/ide|scsi|hardware_raid|firewire card VIA Technologies Inc|VT 8237 SATA150 Controller

After about ten minutes, it gives me this message:

insmod'ing module sata_via failed at /
usr/bin/perl-install/modules.pm line 301

I press the "OK" button on the lower left hand corner of the screen, and it gives me this message:

Found "VIA Technologies Inc|VT8237 SATA150 Controller", "parport_pc", "imm", "ppa" interfaces
Do you have another one?

Radio buttons give me the option yes, no and hardware info. I check yes and click the ok button.

An error occurred
An error occurred - no valid devices were found on which to
create new filesystems. Please check you hardware for the
cause of this problem

Then it takes me to the radio button screen again. In hardware info I scrolled down to my sata controller. Here's what it had:

sata_via :VIA Technologies Inc|VT8237 SATA150 Controller[STORAGE_RAID}
SubVendor=0x1462 SubDevice=0x5901

Sorry for all the detail, but i'm hoping it helps. I've already Googled it and only one other person had this problem, with no replies to his post. If there's any other information that could be helpful let me know. Anything would greatly be appreciated!

*UPDATE*

I made a mistake on my post. At the radio button screen, I checked "No", not "Yes."

Again, thank you for any help!!!
