install pci modem

im new to linux pls someone be kind enough to tell me how to install my motorola SM56 pci modem i think the linux identify the modem when i plug it in and reboot ( a message appears new H/W found motorolla SM56 PCI modem )

i dont know how to set the internet connection and check the modem (something like quarey modem in the windows)

pls tell me in details as im new to linux

Start by letting people know what Linux you are using. Like RedHat or Mandrake. It looks like you paid attention and saw that the modem was detected, so the next step is to configure your internet provider details.
