Unhappy i have linux driver to install modem still i am in a fix.

i wish to install the awinmodem(hsf, msp 3880u, 56k, pci from aztec) which is installed at com3 in windows. the site "www.aztech.com" provides linux drivers which i am unable to install plz help me out (be as comprehensive as u can coz i am quite new to linux) .the driver is a *.tar.gz package. the url of driver is

ftp://ftp.aztech.com/download/modem/...K2.2.14.tar.gz

i had some trouble in downloading then i did it using dap and the things went fine

i some how attempted to decompress it and execute it which generated a log saying that no modem is detected

i tried out modem detecting utility from linmodem.org which sucessfully detects my modem

please help me out to install this driver .
here is the link in case if u would like to chek out the driver

ftp://ftp.aztech.com/download/modem/...K2.2.14.tar.gz

the page provides 3 different versions of driver link to the page ishttp://www.aztech.com/SAnalog.htm#6

my system is having red hat linux 7.3 anl kernel version is 2.4

i would also like to ask you that could it be possible that com 3 port is not installed on my system

You are using a 2.2 kernel driver and you note that you have a 2.4 kernel. If your kernel is 2.4, you can go to Linuxant web site at www.linuxant.com to download the correct driver in a rpm package by using their instructions.
