install linux in as subnotebook
Hi. A freind of mine, have a sub-notebook. He wants to install one linux distro (Debian if possible)
His subnotebook. Has no floppy-disk or cd-rom drive attached. The only advantage is that he can plug hic pc in to the network of our universitywhich is extremely fast.... any idea how we can start an installation remotely using only the ethernet? Thx for your time |
Does it not come with an external CD rom drive? or external floppy drive?
If not, then buy an external USB floppy drive and boot off a few floppies then start a network install. You wan't details? RTFM. |
nop!
no floopy driver or cd-rom are available...
We want to do it only remotely |
does it support booting off the network?
|
what di u mean?
What do u mean boot from network???
|
yep
it supports booting from the nettwork... and now?
|
you will probably need to open it up, remove the hard drive, and hook it up to a desktop computer with an adapter. then, copy the boot files onto the hard drive. you should be able to install it that way.
