inspiron 8250 Dell Laptop P4 w/ RH8

I was wondering if I could monitor my battery power when using RedHat 8. I have the vast majority of packages installed from the distro cds. Most of my stuff is configured.

I tried "apm" and "apm u" and I'm told I'm on active power even though the power lead is not plugged in and I'm on battery. Is there something else I must check/edit first.

APM is mainly used in older bios' your dell probably uses ACPI instead of the older APM for which information can be found here
