I've finally got slackware 12 working on my wifi, but my sound doesn't work(and hasn't with a distro i've tried). when i start kde i get an error about a sound server and /dev/dst(i think it's dst). in xubuntu if i typed echo activate > /sys/devices/pnp0/00:11/resources then lspnp -v i could see that it got an irq, i/o etc. but still no audio. and now with slackware i'm completely lost. can someone help???

i've already googled the crap outa this subject, but apparently the easiest way to get audio working is to use redhat. but slack is my distro of choice.

What happens when you run "alsaconf" ?

the kde error is /dev/dsp(no such file or folder).

alsa tells me it can't find pci or pnp cards so it probes for isa after which it configures snd-opl3sa2. still nothing works.

I reran aslaconf /w only cs and sb drivers checked (i read something about using a sb pro driver somewhere) and it tried using snd-cs4236, still nothing.
