Infrared control - locked out

Hi,

I have just repalce a failed HD and re-installed SUSE10. I had mt Leadtek Winfast2000 TV card working fine on the previous install with full remote control using irexec. On re-install the TV card works fine and for a short while so did the remote control. Not sure what changed but now lirc will not start and irexec reports that

irexec: could not connect to socket
irexec: Connection refused

irdadump reports:
09:12:24.326244 xid:cmd cae3bc29 > ffffffff S=6 s=0 (14)
09:12:24.414258 xid:cmd cae3bc29 > ffffffff S=6 s=1 (14)
09:12:24.502263 xid:cmd cae3bc29 > ffffffff S=6 s=2 (14)
09:12:24.590276 xid:cmd cae3bc29 > ffffffff S=6 s=3 (14)
09:12:24.678288 xid:cmd cae3bc29 > ffffffff S=6 s=4 (14)
09:12:24.766297 xid:cmd cae3bc29 > ffffffff S=6 s=5 (14)
09:12:24.854309 xid:cmd cae3bc29 > ffffffff S=6 s=* linux hint=0400 [ Computer ] (21)
ad infinitum.

Some functions work in the TV card via the remote - channel changing via the number pad but that is all. Rather frustrating after having all working well before.

Any ideas? Is there a process running that grags the ir port?

Thanks

Dave

One thing that I love about Linux is the wealth of info available - pity it is scattered across the net. I found another bit of the puzzel - the remote control for my winfast TV card is based on a GPIO driver that is complied into the kernal - that is probably why I do get some control over the card. What I need to find out is where the scan codes for the remote are stored so that I can modify them to get full control. Any idea where to look??

Dave - again
