Implementing Hardware Watchdog Timer

Hi Everyone,

I want implement a hardware Watchdog timer on an embedded system running Fedora / CentOS.

Some readings have indicated that there are some drivers and daemon applications available to implemented this - can someone perhaps point me into a direction of how this can be implemented, and which modules in linux I should have a look at?

Many thanks in advance!

There is a software based emulation called softdog,
Code:
modinfo softdog
http://www.linux-ha.org/softdog of course for a hardware based one the driver would have to be for that specific piece of hardware.

You can implement a hardware watchdog timer using HPET if your hardware supports it.
