Identifying internal modem Acer 5610Z Ubuntu 7.04
I'm trying to ID the internal modem in my Acer 5610-2013 (it's a 5610Z Build No. BL50 running Fiesty Ubuntu) and I have followed the instructions from various how-to and guides using scanModem.
Here is the output of the ModemData.txt file Code:
DO use the following line as the email Subject Line, to alert cogent experts: - No USB modem found - No modem was found among PCI devices - PCMCIA modem was found How can I better identify the modem - without pulling the laptop apart? Thanks, Michael |
You can try in terminal:
# lspci (find line that looks like: 01:08.0 Communication controller: Agere Systems LT WinModem (rev 02) (it`s an example) |
results of lspci
Thanks for the reply! Here are the results of lspci:
Code:
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS/940GML and 945GT Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03) I have located 2 service manuals for different Acer Aspire notebooks which indicate a Foxxcon Modem may be installed but can't be sure as I don't have the exact manual specific to my notebook model 5610Z. I can`t see anything useful here.
Acer website show that your modem is 56K ITU V.92 modem with PTT approval; Wake-on-Ring ready but, additional search can`t find anything except this It is not a big help, yet you can ask on http://www.linmodems.org/ |
linmodem.org Acer internal PCMCIA modem
Thanks for your help. I will try emailing my modemData.txt to the linmodem.org discussion list. I was hoping to ID the chipset first and then post to them but it seems too elusive.
My Ubuntu Device Manager lists an "unknown device" which is being controlled by the ENE Technologies CB-712/4 Cardbus Controller which is identified as: Unknown (0x0551) Perhaps that is the beast modem?! Thanks again - I appreciate your time and help! Cheers, Michael |
I`m glad to help you.
Cheers Bojce P.S. ENE Technologies CB-712/4 Cardbus Controller is controler for your Card Reader |
I found this on a Ubuntu site forum
The stardard ltmodem resources should suffice for modem support: http://ltmodem.heby.de/ if the modem has a Lucent/Agere digital processing chipset. |
