ide x 2 and com x 1 motherboard

I'd like a reasonably priced compatible motherboard with two ide channels and a serial port. I'm having trouble finding one.

I thought I'd managed it when I found that Epox did both AMD and Intel boards with that config. However, here in England they seem extremely hard to come by.

Then I found the Asus M2V but the reviews on Newegg gave it a no-no for Linux, in particular for the mix of chipsets, if I remember rightly. Gigabyte do some AMD boards but they seem to have problems with the northbridge overheating.

So, does anyone have any advice on this, please? I want the config because Pata seems better supported than SATA and I use an external serial modem for dial-up connection. I'm reluctant to shell out cash for adaptors as this would add significantly to the cost of a medium system.

I've found some. I've dropped down a socket or two and found what I wanted in 939s and 754s.
