ibm thinkpad help

trying to install rh 7.3. was able to run fdisk and now the best i can get is "i9990305" popping up on the screen. thats after the initial splash screen. i have tried different things (f8, f10, esc, del) to get into the bios to set it to boot from cd, but so far, no go. any ideas? the model # for the thinkpad is: well, 380z i suppose.

well here's where i'm at now: made a boot floppy for rh7, start up the thinkpad and it gives me a long list of:unknown keyword in syslinux.cfg
then: could not find kernel image: linux boot:
and thats about it...
i have burned and used a boot floppy before, but this is new to me.
