Angry IBM ServerRaid 7e and FC4

Hello,

I try to install FC4 on an IBM Server X306 serie with a host raid hardware chipset on the motherboard (ServerRaid 7e, adaptec).
I found a RHEL3 driver on the ServerRaid CD-Rom and i make a floppy and insert in the floppy drive.
I load the FC4 install with "linux dd" at prompt "boot".
The installer read the floppy but not find the driver.
The driver is aarich for adaptec.
The installer don't find the driver.
Somebody know where find the driver for FC4 ?
I phone to IBM support and they tell me that FC4 was not supported

A server OS (RHEL, SUSE, Debian, Slack) may better meet your needs, but if you really want FC4 then you will likely need to re-package IBM's driver to fit.

you can switch VC's and figure out why the module is not loading. That error would provide insight to the next steps.

also might try the stock aacraid drivers?

have you got it installed, at the end?
i find 2 interesting links googling
with keyword: ibm xSeries 306 scsi raid1 linux

on centos site i find:
"Maybe you've already searched this forum for the famous IBM ServeRAID 7E (aka Adaptec Hostraid adapter, using Intel ICH5 chipset ...) and you've found in previous posts regarding this card that it's not supported by the default Linux Kernel (because Adaptec didn't provide the source code for this module aarich).
This module was only available for specific kernels (like RHEL 3, update 1-4) but CentOS 3 kernels were not supported :
As discussed with Johnny Hughes, CentOS 3 to CentOS 3.3 kernels were not exactly the same as RHEL ones (because of an extra version), but i found that CentOS 3.4 kernel was also different from the RHEL 3.4 ! That was the reason why the IBM/Adaptec driver disk refused to load on this server."

it seems that u need RHEL 4 update 1 to get RAID1 hardware working.
i installed fc4 but raid1 is software, no way to get the other one.

i think this is krnel related, not distro related;

Yes, Maruz, it would be kernel specific. I was not going to suggest something more complex than an rpm -i for an install of FC4, when IBM provides information and support for other distro's pre-packaged kernels.

yes, alt-f2 for a different virtual term, one of the term's will have the python that is running the install and will provide the insmod failure errors that occur when trying to load the dd.

modprobe aacraid. (perhaps it is not getting detected, see dmesg)
