Dude, you're asking about a sound card at the end of a rather lengthy video card thread, no big deal, probably just another i810_audio clone. If:

/sbin/modprobe i810_audio

doesn't do it, post back with the output of:

/sbin/lspci

Cheers,

the sound card

I've done some research on this part of it now.. and it seems that the audio portion is not just the 8x0 clone everyone thinks it might be. From what I can tell from the success stories of other people, the best way to get this to work is install a sound driver called "alsa". But you will need to install the latest version (which they call beta). In Redhat, the newest version of alsa is available.. but in my case I had to download it and compile it by hand. (I'm using an older version of debian) I still haven't gotten mine to work completely but it does to some degree.
You can get alsa at

I split this one so that we could keep the other poor GL845 graphics chipset guys from getting a bunch of spam about the i810 audio chipset.

Alsa, is of course an option, this new rev of the card is also covered, as far as I can tell, under 2.4.20 if not 2.4.19, so upgrading kernels will probably get you a version of i810_audio.o new enough to ID the chipset right. All in all, either way is going to involve a lot of compiling and ALSA really makes for much better sound... so, yeah, http://www.alsa-project.org

Cheers,

Finegan
