I use a DSL line when at home, but need dial-up

so I connected my US Robotic 56K modem to a com port and restart the computer. During the startup it finds the new hardware and asks if I want to configure it, to which I have answered Yes.
I then go to the Network Config dialog and create a new Modem connection, when I do it only specifies a Generic Modem (Not a US Robotics) I enter the phone number and User ID and Password for the account.

When I try to enable the modem I get an Error 8, if I keep trying I eventually get an Error 2.

So I'm not sure what else I need to do! I looked for a listing of Error Codes but could not find one. Any help with what to do would be appreciated!!

Re: I use a DSL line when at home, but need dial-up

Well,
forget about configuration tools.
Try to configure your modem at your own by using the configuration files
in /etc/ppp. There are good documantations available on the net for doing that.
Be sure that you configure you files with the logging option, so that you really
can see where the problem is!

good luck!
