I need to get an All-In-One printer for linux
Hi, I know the pros and cons of having an all-in-one. Despite that, I've decided I want to get one. Preferably an HP.
Could someone tell me of an HP all-in-one that works for scanning, copying and printing in linux? I use SuSE 10.
Thanks!

I've got a PSC 750, an old one, but a great one nevertheless. In fact, I find it better than many of HP's new ones.
Anyhow, I know that printing works on it, but I never really tried scanning, although it's drivers are supposedly fully supported.
http://www.linuxprinting.org/ is a good place to go to find support for various printers. You can search by model name or view all printers by a certain company.

All the hp all-in-ones work completely in linux using the hpoj backend for scanning. Rest easy.
There are some tricks for getting both printing and scanning going - cups will set up the printer but you have to configure sane seperately. I found a good place was just to look through the printers in the cups dialogs and read the driver notes for everything.

Thanks.
I'm thinking about getting a HP PSC 1610
Does anyone know how easy this is to setup, and how well it works?

printers
HP and Epson rank high according to linuxprinting.org
Samsung openly supports linux and usually has drivers included on CD with its products. ( my samsung laser was fully supported - did not even have to use discs - was installed and printing in about three minutes)
Try to get something you can refill, if you're into that, or something where the heads are integral to the inkcartridge.
Be aware that scanning works in linux but is still in development.
good luck

Roach, did you buy the psc 1610? I just bought one myself, and am pretty happy with it so far, but I've noticed that the card reader is incredibly slow. I was wondering if you noticed the same thing.

Description :
The Hewlett-Packard Linux Imaging and Printing project (HPLIP) provides
a unified single and multifunction connectivity solution for HP
printers and scanners (in particular, HP all-in-one devices).
HPLIP provides unified connectivity for printing, scanning, photo card
access, and device management and is designed to work with CUPS. It
includes the Ghostscript printer driver HPIJS for HP printers and a
special "hp" CUPS back-end that provides bidirectional communication
with the device (required for HP printer device management). It also
includes the SANE scanner back-end "hpaio" for HP all-in-one devices.
The "hp-toolbox" program is provided for device management.
The HPLIP project is open source software and uses GPL-compatible
licenses. For more information, see:

SuSE already has the package on it's installation disk.

umm, yeah. Maybe I should have mentioned that I'm using those drivers. Scanning and printing work great. The only problem that I've encountered is with file transfers to the hard drive from a memory card. It sounded like a pretty convenient feature to me, but it doesn't work very well... for me at least. I just wanted to see if anyone else had that problem.
Thanks in advance.
