I Need To Connect!!!

hello there,
i have recently downloaded mandrake linux and i installed it but when i tried to get the modem working it said modem not supported.?? I have now uninstalled linux and am willing to put any version of linux on to get connected to the net i have a Scientific Atlanta Webstar Modem and i use a 3Com 3C920B Intergrated Fast Ethernet Controller...please help i dont mind which linux i use aslong as it supports my modem and ican connect to the interent..! Thank you
